Structural Mistuning Analysis
N&R has been investigating the impact of structural mistuning of centrifugal compressors on high cycle fatigue life. ANSYS has been used to determine the tuned structural response and the Turbo-REDUCE code to determine the additional stresses due to mistuning. Results show an approximately 30 percent increase in response amplitude because of frequency mistuning of the impeller. The probabilistic impact of key geometrical uncertainties such as blade back sweep angle has also been determined.
