Software Tool Development
N&R has developed several key modeling/analysis
software tools for NASA sponsored programs including
a major upgrade to an existing probabilistic finite
element structural analysis code (NESSUS). The
upgraded code, called NESTEM, can now handle heat
transfer uncertainties and composite material
uncertainties. It can generate a geometric model
of simple structures or, alternatively, accept
the geometric models generated by ANSYS or NASTRAN.
N&R also interfaced NESSUS with NASA's Quantitative
Risk Assessment System code (QRAS).

Another software development example is our computer
programming support of NASA's Project Integration
Architecture project to establish a scalable,
server-side architecture for enterprise-wide computer
code development and information sharing using
CORBA, Unified Modeling Language, and Portable
Object Adapter.
